The Luna Recovery Difference

With a maximum of nine clients in residence at any time, Luna Recovery provides a unique, close-knit client community that other Texas residential treatment centers can't match. In this upscale environment, we're able to build trust and establish a true connection with our clients to achieve their realistic goals for substance abuse treatment and recovery.

What To Expect At Our Residential Treatment Center

When a client enrolls in our inpatient program, they agree to spend around 30 days living on campus around the clock. Depending on how rapidly a person advances through treatment and their particular obstacles, this period may be shorter or longer. Our staff members will create a treatment plan for an individual that is specific to their needs throughout their stay.

We’ve seen firsthand that a one-size-fits-all strategy is ineffective for treating substance abuse. Every patient has personal treatment objectives, whether they wish to learn how to manage mental health conditions or how to mend and maintain healthy connections with friends and family. To ensure that each client’s treatment is effective and meets them where they are, we work hard to understand each client’s goals.

In this close-knit, upscale environment, we’re removing all the distractions of your daily life so you can focus on yourself for a while.

Individuals will collaborate with our team members through these therapeutic modalities to comprehend and overcome life’s difficulties and tensions. To help clients make long-lasting changes, we continuously show compassion and support from both our therapists and our fellow residents. It’s critical to realize and accept that you won’t be traveling this road alone.

Additional time in treatment may be recommended and will be determined in partnership between our collaborative treatment team and the client.

Alcohol and drug addiction are highly personal. Here at Luna in Houston, TX, we believe that the more you know and understand the biological, psychological, and neurological aspects of addiction, the more prepared you will be to fully embrace your recovery.

CBT for substance abuse is a type of behavioral therapy that concentrates on how your thoughts, feelings, and emotions influence your state of mind and guide your behavior. The word “cognitive-behavioral” essentially means that your thoughts determine your behaviors, not the other way around. This type of therapy seeks to alter your way of thinking so that you eventually exhibit more advantageous actions.

DBT for substance abuse places a high emphasis on the creation and maintenance of close relationships, mindfulness, and staying in the present, as well as emotional control. It is designed for people who struggle to regulate their intense emotional responses and harmful coping techniques.

A whole team has your back while you’re here. A licensed primary therapist will work with you privately, at least twice a week, to emphasize short-term behavioral and treatment goals and work through issues as they arise. Your primary therapist will also teach necessary coping tools and strategies to quit drug use and maintain abstinence, help develop a comprehensive plan and make referrals for supplemental medical, psychiatric, employment, and other services as needed.

Residential treatment stresses that you’re not alone on the road to a sober life. Group therapy for substance abuse will include sharing issues, emotions, and experiences in a safe, healing environment.

Many therapy sessions use group therapy to benefit from the social support that is gained by discussions with peers and to help promote a drug-free lifestyle. Research has shown that when group therapy is offered in combination with individual counseling or is set up to reflect the principles of behavioral therapies, positive outcomes are achieved.

Addiction impacts the entire family. We offer weekly family therapy sessions, either in person or virtually. Held every Sunday for our residential treatment clients and their families, family therapy is optional and strongly encouraged. Our experienced professionals help family members and loved ones understand the addiction process as it relates to them. Everyone affected can begin their combined healing process.

If you have a diagnosed, co-occurring disorder, you’ll receive individualized treatment planning for both addiction and mental illness. You and your therapist will co-create your treatment plan. Your short and long-term goals will address your specific needs. It’s necessary to treat both conditions at the same time to prevent a relapse of either one.

What is a Residential Treatment Program?

One of the most crucial elements of drug and alcohol addiction recovery is a residential treatment program. It is typically the first stage of a treatment program for a substance use disorder (SUD) and frequently involves a medical protocol for drug and/or alcohol withdrawal.

For people who are dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues can attend an inpatient rehab facility where they can put aside the pressures and obligations of everyday life and concentrate on their recovery. Our cutting-edge facility provides a safe, welcoming, and encouraging setting to receive addiction treatment.

Residential treatment programs can last anywhere from 21 days to 90 days (and in some cases, even longer). The actual length of stay is unique to each patient and is based on individual needs and preferences. We provide levels of care, including inpatient and outpatient programs, and have a wide variety of services to accommodate specific needs.

Upon arrival to treatment, every patient must go through a thorough intake process which includes both a medical and psychological assessment. Based on the results, this allows us to make an accurate diagnosis and a plan of action. Patients meet with medical professionals and therapists to determine the first steps that need to be taken toward a successful recovery.

Intensive but relatively brief care is typically provided in short-term residential treatment for substance abuse. Originally designed to treat alcoholism, these programs began to treat other types of substance use disorders (SUDs) due to the cocaine epidemic of the mid-1980s. The original inpatient treatment model was a 3 to 6-week hospital-based treatment followed by extensive outpatient therapy and participation in a self-help group like AA (Alcoholics Anonymous).

After staying in a residential program, it’s important to remain engaged in outpatient treatment or aftercare programs. This helps reduce the risk of relapse once the person leaves the residential environment.

Long-term residential treatment programs for substance abuse provide 24-hour daycare, usually in non-hospital settings. The most well-known inpatient treatment model is the therapeutic community (TC). The length of stay is between 6 and 12 months. TCS concentrates on the “resocialization” of the individual. The program’s whole community including residents and staff an active part of substance abuse treatment.

Addiction is seen in the framework of the person’s social and psychological inadequacy and treatment focuses on:

  • Developing personal accountability
  • Learning responsibility
  • Leading a socially productive life

A long-term residential treatment program is highly structured and may sometimes be confrontational. Activities are designed to help residents explore any damaging beliefs, self-concepts, and destructive behavior patterns they’re holding on to and help them embrace more agreeable and constructive ways of interacting with others.

Many residential treatment programs offer comprehensive addiction treatment and mental health services. This may include employment training and other support services. Research has shown that TCs can be changed to treat people with special needs including:

  • Adolescents/young adults
  • Women
  • Homeless people
  • Individuals with serious mental disorders
  • People in the criminal justice system

First Step to Recovery: The Detox Process

The journey to recovering from addiction begins with medical detox, also known as medication-assisted treatment (MAT). During the first step in the process, the body is currently ridding itself of the substances on which it has grown dependent throughout overtime. Unpleasant withdrawal symptoms may be experienced as a result of drug addiction, which is why self-detoxing is highly discouraged.

Fortunately, our trained medical detox professionals are highly experienced in treating withdrawal symptoms, and intense cravings. Our goal is to always ensure that the detox process is as easy, safe, and comfortable as possible. After MAT, a person will be able to begin inpatient treatment.

10 Benefits of Residential Treatment Programs

Checking into a residential program gives you time to disconnect from all your other obligations and focus only on yourself. This opportunity is a great benefit for you to work on what has gone wrong in your life. Having this time to focus on your addiction and life will help you become fully equipped to handle problems.

Our residential rehab program at Luna Recovery Services is designed to provide comprehensive, intimate, and highly customized care for people with a substance use disorder, a mental health condition, or both. The amenities offered are designed to support our clients mentally and physically.

Getting away from people who are using drugs or drinking is a crucial part of addiction recovery and it can be really hard to do in the early stages of sobriety. This is your chance to get away from negative influences and the time to work on the skills that you’ll need to stay away from them after addiction treatment.

Withdrawal can be a very difficult process to go through. Having the opportunity to detox in a safe environment with a trained professional medical staff increases your chance of successfully quitting. However, it’s important to remember that detoxing is only the first step toward your life in recovery. Don’t treat it as the only one. Without doing the work necessary to stay sober after detoxing, the chances for continued success aren’t as good.

It’s hard to understand drug or alcohol addiction for people who haven’t been through that experience themselves. It’s especially hard for family members who haven’t struggled with addiction to be able to understand what their loved one is going through. Being able to talk to other people who are experiencing the same things can be very helpful.

Most people don’t think twice about getting help for any other type of medical condition. Addiction is a serious disease that affects you:

  • Physically
  • Mentally
  • Emotionally

Addiction has an impact on every aspect of your life. When you consider this, it is clear why you would benefit from having some type of professional help to recover.

Residential treatment programs help build healthy habits and routines that will allow you to make positive lifestyle changes. When a person is caught up in their active addiction, the structure of their life begins to fall apart. Staying busy early on in your recovery process and working on setting up a production schedule is helpful.

Having the support of your peers who are going through a similar process, along with trained professionals, can make a huge difference in your recovery process. Also, staying in a residential setting provides the additional benefit of accountability.

Addiction brings pain to the addict and the people close to them. The time spent in treatment provides an opportunity to work on and heal past hurts for all parties involved. Occasionally, the best thing you can give someone is some time and space.

The setting for inpatient treatment removes the constant temptation of going to the liquor store or dropping by your dealer’s place to pick up your drugs. It can be extremely difficult in early recovery to deal with the cravings and it is even harder if the substance is readily available. Being in a supportive and sober environment gives you a much better chance to survive the early days successfully.

Good residential treatment programs provide some type of graduate support after treatment. This may take the form of follow-up meetings or phone calls from staff members. Aftercare such as this provides a lifeline when you’re making your way through the transitional period after residential treatment.

When you complete inpatient treatment in Texas at Luna Recovery, we make it easy to receive continued care through our support groups including our Alumni Meetings which are held once a week.

How Much Does Residential Treatment Cost?

There isn’t anyone who answers the question of how much money you can expect to pay for substance abuse treatment. The cost of treatment varies depending on:

  • Type of program
  • Length of treatment
  • Location geographically
  • Amenities offered

That being said, treatment can be expensive. But it is the best investment you will ever make. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), it can cost from $2,000 to $25,000 depending on the facility and treatment provided. Although the cost of addiction treatment might seem overwhelming, it’s possible to figure out ways to pay for the care you need.

Residential treatment programs in Texas allow patients to pay for addiction treatment in several ways. Most accept private health insurance and Medicaid. Many facilities have payment assistance available or offer a sliding fee schedule, based on your income. Many places accept Medicare. However, there are rules about specific providers that individuals can use with Medicare and some types of treatment programs are not covered.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) ordered that health insurance policies must provide drug and alcohol addiction and mental health coverage. This includes:

  • Private insurance policies
  • Medicare
  • Medicaid
  • State-financed health insurance
  • Military insurance

You need to understand your policy because health insurance companies cover rehab costs based on certain guidelines. Many will only cover up to 30 days of treatment.

Understanding how much rehab costs without insurance may seem surprising at first, however, there are options. Don’t let the price discourage you from looking into treatment. There are several options. Your state or local government may offer free treatment. You may also be able to get free or low-cost support from the following:

  • A 12-step program like Alcoholics Anonymous or Narc-anon
  • SMART Recovery organizations
  • Faith-based groups
  • Secular Organizations for Sobriety
