As of September 1, 2019, prescribers and pharmacists are required to report all allocated controlled substances to the Texas PMP. Also, as of March 1, 2020, it’s vital to check the patient’s PMP history before the dispensing of all Schedule II, III, IV, and V controlled substances, such as:

  • Carisoprodol muscle relaxant
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Barbiturates
  • Opioids

According to the Texas PMP, tramadol was considered the #2 controlled substance dispensed in Texas in the fiscal year 2019. The first substance dispensed was Hydrocodone and Fentanyl didn’t rank in the top 15. It is observational information from individuals who work with elderly patients who have reported concerns with the volume of tramadol being prescribed for patients.

On September 1, 2019, the Texas PMP required physicians and pharmacists to check for the drugs that are already prescribed to patients to be able to lessen the overall ability of the drug-seekers to access other drugs. There is a pattern of utilizing several drugs that should be a target of harm reduction campaigns that target users prescribing pain medications.

Prescribing pain medications for families who need to be educated about signs of opioid overdose and have naloxone present in the home if overdoses occur. Also, in 2019, methamphetamine was perceived to be the number # 1 drug by the three DEA Field Divisions covering Texas. Regarding marijuana, in the first half of 2019, cannabis ranked as the #2 drug seized and recognized by toxicology laboratories at 26% of all drugs.

Furthermore, in 2019, 10 Texas hospitals started pilot testing new and best practices for identifying opioid misuse and improving care for women that have opioid use disorder during pregnancy and after. Beginning in 2021, lessons have been learned regarding the above pilot that will then be used to refine the most ideal practices for statewide implementation.

Texas Resources for Addiction Treatment At LUNA Recovery Services.

Our programs at our Texas rehab centers are focused on connecting, uncovering, and discovering. When an individual is struggling with addiction, it can feel like life is quickly spiraling out of control and there isn’t an escape. Even if a person has a tough mentality about them, addiction can still be challenging. Fortunately, there is no need to feel lost. There are several addiction treatment programs available at our Texas rehab centers. The treatment programs are geared toward assisting patients and their families who are struggling with substance abuse.

Our addiction resources and treatment programs are about the connection with our attentive professionals and like-minded peers who will share goals of healing from addiction. Once you discover what is blocking your way, you’ll have more access to your future. Addiction is a chronic disease that can be managed.

Addiction doesn’t discriminate based on age, gender, income, or anything else. It doesn’t care who you are or even how you grew up. We understand that and we offer programs for:

  • Individuals struggling with mental health disorders and addiction (co-occurring disorders)
  • People who might’ve been court-ordered to undergo addiction treatment
  • Individuals who might not have a home
  • Adolescents
  • Women
  • Men

Every addiction isn’t the same. So, every treatment option at our Texas rehab centers won’t be identical either. We understand that every person’s circumstance is unique and for that reason, we don’t offer the same cookie-cutter programs to everybody.

Here at LUNA Recovery, we create customized programs that are specifically tailored to address an individual and their needs. Our variety of substance abuse and addiction programs include:

  • Co-occurring disorders
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Drug abuse

The arguably most important step of the recovery process is detoxing. While we don’t offer a detox program at our facility, we are happy to give recommendations for facilities.

Treatment Programs

If two individuals struggle with the same type of addiction, what might work best for one person might not work as well for another. Our treatment plans and programs are geared to fitting every individual and their needs. The treatment programs we offer are:

There are some patients that are in need of a higher level of care than inpatient care can offer. Some individuals aren’t able to enter inpatient care for a couple of reasons. For those patients, partial hospitalization might be the most ideal option.

It offers the same access to medical supervision and care as an inpatient does without having to live at the facility. The patients in this program have the luxury of staying in the comfort of their own home or a sober supportive living environment. There will be a minimum of 25 hours of medical and clinical care offered a week.

Even though inpatient treatment tends to be considered the most popular option as well as providing the most comprehensive treatment, it isn’t the best fit for everyone. Some individuals simply can’t commit to living at the rehab facility for the duration of their treatment. On the flip side, some patients aren’t able to afford the costs that come along with inpatient treatment.

Some patients are transitioning out of an inpatient treatment program and are still in need of additional treatment during their transition period. For these patients, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) might be the most suited option. We offer evening and day programs so that they can fit your schedule.

For individuals who need access to medical care or who need to stay at a rehab facility for the duration of their addiction treatment, inpatient treatment is the most suited option. This treatment is actually the most preferred treatment option for most treatment professionals. Generally, inpatient treatment has the highest success rates since patients don’t have to stress about the temptations of everyday life.

Generally, the length of time for residential treatment can range from a couple of weeks to a few months depending on the person and the circumstance. Here at Luna Recovery, we offer short-term and long-term inpatient treatment options. During our residential program, the patient will attend therapy sessions and have access to other services such as nutritionists and medical professionals who can also assist with mind and body approaches.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY MAY BE THE ONLY RESOURCE YOU NEED FOR A LIFE OF SOBRIETY.

Individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction is highly specialized. This treatment allows a client the opportunity to work one-on-one with experts in the field of addiction and mental health. Therapy has been proven to be a crucial part of recovery.

Our therapists and experts will develop a unique treatment plan that addresses your specific issues. The plan identifies skills and activities to maintain sobriety and support ongoing recovery and healing.

THIS 1:1 THERAPY MAY BE ALL YOU NEED TO BEGIN A LIFE OF SOBRIETY.

Interventions for substance abuse involve helping your loved one who might not be ready to commit to rehabilitation. A trained, professional interventionist works with families on what to do and say as well as what not to do and say. This helps interrupt addictive behaviors through education, guidance, boundary setting, and effective communication.

A dry run is performed first with family and friends; then, the intervention takes place with the addict afterward. Interventions serve to accomplish the ultimate goal of stopping the addictive process and getting your loved ones the help they need.

This one-on-one approach helps clients map out their unique recovery plan. Trained recovery coaches help their clients discover their motivations for getting and staying sober. For that reason, the client-coach relationship is considered a partnership. Clients work with coaches to develop goals and action steps necessary for maintaining long-term recovery. The coaches in turn provide accountability and positive, affirming support along the way.
